Jim Flaiz, is a South Russell resident and graduated from Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School, The Ohio State University, and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
Before becoming Geauga County Prosecutor, he served for six years on the South Russell Village Council, where he chaired the Safety Committee, worked on the Finance Committee, and represented the Council on the Planning Commission.
As an attorney, Jim specialized in juvenile law, criminal defense, mediation, and civil litigation. He also served as a Guardian ad Litem for abused and neglected children and held roles as Acting Judge and substitute prosecutor in the Chardon Municipal Court.
Jim was actively involved in the legal community as Past President of the Geauga County Bar Association and contributed to the expansion project of the Geauga County Law Library.
In his community, he was a past President of the Bellwood Lake Homeowners Association Board of Trustees and a member of various professional associations.
