Stop the Blossom Time Bandits!

Do you know what a "bandit" is in terms of road running races? A bandit is someone who runs or walks a race without paying for it. What's the big deal? Well, let us tell you.

Your race entry fee for Blossom Time isn't just about the race shirt. The Jaycees use the Blossom Time race to make money so that we can give that money to charity. People who don't pay are kind of taking money from charity if you think about it.

Before we make any money to give to charity, we have costs associated with putting on a race. We rent port-o-johns. We buy water and bananas for the finish line. We coordinate volunteers to provide water stations. So, when you decide to just show up and run without paying for the race, you're using resources that we were trying to plan based on paid registrants.

So, if you decide to participate in the Blossom Time Run this year as a walker or a runner, have a look around you and see how many people are without a race bib.
